Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) is located on a beautifully green and pleasant campus just a few minutes’ walk from Lincoln Cathedral, Castle, and the old Roman city. Our story began in the 1860s as an Anglican teacher training college for women, which makes us one of the oldest Higher Education Institutions in the UK. Since then, we've grown, adapted, and modernised to become the thriving university we are today. We're still experts in teaching and education, but we've now got a wider portfolio of exciting degree courses than ever before. We currently offer causes in a wide range of subjects, from Undergraduate Degree level to PhD, and much more in between.

We are seeking to appoint a collegial, enthusiastic Youth Work Professional with relevant research and teaching expertise, and we would particularly welcome applications from those with specialisms in primary or secondary teaching roles. The Professional Practice programmes are designed for work-based learners across three distinct pathways: early childhood, primary and secondary education, and youth work settings. The programmes are taught into the evenings to accommodate the working patterns of our learners.

The postholder must hold a Level 6 JNC Youth Worker qualification and will need a demonstrable passion for their subject alongside a commitment to providing a first-class student experience. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to core delivery on the Professional Practice programmes and to play a part in recruitment and research supervision.

BGU offers a generous employee benefits package including:

•    35 days holiday for Grades 7+

•    Plus 3 additional discretionary days annual leave over the Christmas period

•    Various pension scheme options including a Teachers Pension scheme offering up to 23.68% Employer Contribution, and BG Flex (a private pension scheme managed by Aviva) offering a 10% employer contribution and the employee contributions are voluntary and flexible.

•    Cycle to Work Scheme

•    Electric Car Salary Sacrifice Scheme

•    24/7 Employee Assistance Programme including face to face counselling sessions

•    Agile Working Scheme to support employees work-life balance

Informal enquiries about the post may be made in the first instance to Dr Nyree Nicholson, Programme Leader for Professional Practice, by email at: nyree-anne.nicholson@bishopg.ac.uk
