Bishop Grosseteste University is based in the historic uphill area of the city, just a ten-minute walk away from the castle and cathedral and a range of other cultural and historical attractions. BGU has been awarded a Gold Teaching Excellence Framework Award for its teaching and learning and the unique and positive experience we offer our students is well recognised and evidenced through such key achievements. This is an exciting time of expansion and growth for the institution and BGU will be able to provide you with the opportunity to develop your career and contribute to our ongoing success.

Bishop Grosseteste University has been given an exciting opportunity to recruit a Students’ Union Marketing Assistant (Fixed-Term) as part of the Kickstart Scheme, a government backed scheme to provide job opportunities to young people at risk of long-term unemployment. You will be working for the Students’ Union, who provide a vital service to the students at BGU through student experience, wellbeing and representation services.

Reporting to the Marketing & Events Coordinator, you will assist with the planning, creation and execution of a wide range of marketing and advertising formats, both digital and print. You will have to evaluate our campaigns and be responsible for understanding the latest trends to ensure we’re up to date and always able to connect with our target demographics. As well as this, you’ll assist the team with maintaining our relationships with external companies who advertise with us or who we contract for specific duties, as well as other general office and administrative duties where appropriate.

This is an excellent opportunity for a young person to get a boost in a highly competitive industry and gain experience working in a Higher Education Support environment. This role may involve remote working in line with current government regulations.

You must have a good level of written and oral communication skills. A knowledge of the Adobe CC and Office 365 suite is beneficial for this position, as you will be required to design high quality advertising materials both digital and print.

BGU offers a generous employee benefits package including:

•    25 days holiday for Grades 1-6

•    35 days holiday for Grades 7+

•    Plus 3 additional discretionary days annual leave over the Christmas period

•    A 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme including free online GP services and face to face counselling sessions

•    We also offer various free perks and discounted vouchers through Perkbox e.g. a monthly free cinema ticket, a free coffee every week, a Birthday Box delivered straight to your work or home, Free Eyecare Vouchers, a Cycle to Work Scheme, plus many discounts at various high street shops and online brands.

Please note that you must have been referred to us by your Job Centre Work Coach to apply for this position.

When applying, please upload your CV on Step 4 of the application form.
