We are seeking to appoint a Technical Contracts Manager to join our busy Estates & Facilities Team. This is a key role with responsibility for the effective management of reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance across the University estate.

The postholder will ensure that all maintenance activity is delivered efficiently, safely, and in compliance with statutory legislation and best‑practice guidance. You will also be responsible for ensuring that accurate records and management information are maintained to support compliance, assurance, and continuous improvement across the Estates function.

The Technical Contracts Manager will provide expert technical advice and take the lead on the procurement, appointment, and management of contractors and service providers delivering a wide range of estates‑related services across the University estate. This will include managing contractor performance, overseeing supply chains, and ensuring value for money while maintaining high standards of service delivery.

The successful candidate will ideally hold a relevant Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Diploma, or be able to demonstrate significant and relevant experience gained in a similar technical or estates management role. Membership of an appropriate professional body (such as CIBSE or CIOB), is desirable.

You will have significant mechanical and electrical experience, with a strong understanding of estates compliance and maintenance requirements within a complex environment. A very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is essential.

An opportunity has arisen for a Building Attendant to join our Campus Operations Team. This is an active and varied role as part of a larger team across the estate.

Tasks will be wide ranging and varied from room set-ups, building unlocks, keeping areas clean and presentable, through to initial light maintenance, and routine compliance checks.

Flexibility will be required during the absence of the other Building Attendants and University events to ensure a seamless service.

Previous experience of working in a facilities role is desirable but not essential; if you have the relevant skills to be successful, we will train you on the rest. You will be encouraged to be creative, flexible and resourceful in your approach to the tasks at hand; while delivering a great customer service to the wide range of people you will meet each day.

A full clean driving licence is required as you will be required to drive University vehicles around and between sites.

Working Arrangements

Typical working hours will be 06:00 to 18:00 working on average 42 hours per week over 8 days, 365 days a year. However, flexibility will be required to cover nights during the absence of the other Building Attendants and University events to ensure a seamless service.

The working arrangements consist of four 12-hour shifts, either:

· 06:00 to 18:00, followed by four rest days (4 days on, 4 days off)

· 18:00 to 06:00, followed by four rest days (4 nights on, 4 nights off).

The shift pattern gives an average working week of 42 hours:

· 365 days divided by 8 days = 45.625 shifts of 48 hours = 2,190 hours per year.

· 2,190 hours divided by 52 weeks = average 42 hours per week
