Bishop Grosseteste University is seeking to appoint Visiting Tutors to contribute to the range of programmes offered within the School of Social Sciences. We are looking for applicants with experience of professional practice in one or more of the following sectors; schools, early years, youth work and/or special education. A Visiting Tutor is typically employed on a short term contract and will largely involve teaching and marking, working alongside the relevant experienced programme teams.

We seek an inspiring and enthusiastic colleague who is keen to work flexibly across different programmes where relevant and required. Specific programmes wishing to recruit visiting tutors are:

FdA and BA (Hons) Professional Studies

BA (Hons) Special Educational Needs and Inclusion

BA (Hons) Education Studies

BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies

Applicants will need to have a good first degree qualification in a relevant discipline and preferably, although not essential, previous experience of teaching in higher education. Applications from those with a relevant Masters degree are particularly welcomed.

Any appointment made will be at our current Visiting Tutor teaching rate (£42.17 per hour) or at a non-contact rate for marking (£21.08), subject to annual review. The contract commits staff to a range of professional criteria and responsibilities, including work which the University may require as the need arises.
