Our recently updated five year strategy highlights Research as a as key priority for the future development of Bishop Grosseteste University. Following the departure of Professor Kate Adams, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to the role of Head of Research to drive forward our research aspirations.     

Reporting to the Executive Dean: Research, Knowledge Exchange & External Engagement, this role is a senior academic post, contributing to the Corporate Leadership Team of the University, with responsibility for leading and developing institution wide approaches to research. 

A key function of the post will be to direct, under the guidance of the Executive Dean Research, Knowledge Exchange and External Engagement, the activities of the Research and Innovation Centre.

The post holder will have a significant cross institutional remit and be expected to work collaboratively to champion research at Bishop Grosseteste University, internally and externally, within the context of institutional priorities.

Successful candidates must have a doctorate in a subject area compatible with those offered by the University and a strong successful record of achievement in leadership of research and scholarship activity.  The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate successful grant capture and income generation.

Evidence of successfully building collaborative and effective teams and implementing innovative solutions to research challenges will also be critical.  The post holder will need highly developed interpersonal skills and possess the vision, energy and passion to deliver transformational change in order to meet the University’s ambitions to attain Research Degree Awarding Powers and enhance its submission to REF 2020.
